Generative AI for Interior Design

Learn to drive AI through the full interior design workflow - client brief, space analysis, concept, space planning, materials and lighting, visualisation, presentation and documentation - without losing your own design judgment. Built for interior design students, graduates and practising designers who already know design and want to explore ideas faster, compare alternatives and communicate their vision clearly. Live, mentor-led, 16 weeks, with an applied project at every stage and a capstone on your own project.

    About This Course

Most interior projects follow the same path. You meet the client, measure the space, do your research, build a concept, plan the layout, choose materials and lighting, render it, present it and then document it. This course takes you through each of those nine stages and shows you where AI actually helps and where it gets in the way. We assume you already know interior design, either from your studies or from practice. We won't teach you how to plan a living room. We'll teach you how to use AI to explore more layout options than you'd have time to draw by hand, and how to tell which ones are any good. You'll work with the kinds of tools studios use today for writing, image generation, rendering, phone-based 3D scanning, layouts and short walkthrough videos. These tools change every few months, so the course is built around the workflow rather than any one tool. One habit stays the same throughout: check what the AI gives you against the real room, the real material and the real budget before it goes anywhere near a client. For every project you'll keep a short AI Decision Log, a page noting what you asked the AI to do, where it went wrong and what you changed. When a studio looks at your portfolio, it shows how you think, which matters more than how many renders you made. In the last two weeks you'll take one of your own projects through all nine stages. It can be a studio assignment, your thesis or a client job you have permission to use.

HI Focus: Skills AI Can't Replace

Client empathy: understanding how people actually live and work in a space
Spatial judgment: knowing whether a layout truly works, not just whether it looks good
Material and budget realism: knowing what can actually be sourced, built and maintained
Knowing when to override the AI, and when not to use it at all
Honest representation: presenting visuals that match what the client will really get
Design intent: keeping the vision yours while AI speeds up the work

"Think like an interior designer who uses AI well, not one who gets replaced by it"
